This website runs on WordPress Blogging Software, i have also created some of my niche sited with joomla but not have tested the other blogging software mentioned above.
Initially I created my blog on blooger.com, but creating a blog on a free  platform is just like living in a rented accommodation they always has a right to through away your stuff on ground. More over if you wish to make Money out of blogging then self-hosted blog is a must and WordPress is the software i would recommend to you.
